About Harappa Cafe
Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Harappa Cafe!
Harappa Cafe is a “community kitchen” open to everyone, from children to adults.
We aim to be a place for connection that brings people together and a safe space where everyone can feel at ease.
Everyone, including the owner, runs the place on a volunteer basis.
We are always looking for volunteers through WWOOF.
What is WWOOF?
WWOOF (World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms) is a worldwide network that connects farms, restaurants (hosts), and others engaged in organic-minded activities with people (volunteers, “WWOOFers”) who want to help and learn.
Each country has an independent system connecting hosts and volunteers.
In exchange for 6 hours of help per day, WWOOFers receive three meals and a place to stay.
There is no exchange of money.
For more details, please see the official WWOOF Japan website.

About WWOOF
What kind of help is involved?
Here, WWOOFers work as restaurant chefs and staff, doing cooking, cleaning up, etc.
For cooking, volunteers choose, cook, and serve dishes using the ingredients available in the kitchen.
Depending on the season, we also:
- Help out at nearby small organic farms
- Respond to requests for help from people in the neighborhood
- Do cleaning, carpentry, laundry, etc., to make the space comfortable for everyone
Who are the WWOOFers?
Enthusiastic people from Japan and abroad who are interested in food and love to cook.
Most WWOOFers come from overseas, especially from France, the US, Australia, and Taiwan.
The age range is wide, from teenagers to people in their 80s.
Of course, everyone is welcome, whether from within Japan or any other country or region.
You don’t need to be able to speak Japanese, but knowing a few basic phrases (e.g., greetings, expressions of thanks) is appreciated.
By cooking and eating together, you can directly experience food cultures, customs, and ways of thinking from around the world.
You might also learn family recipes and unique life wisdom from each other.
It’s a gathering of open-minded people who try to understand one another.
